Popular uses for Image Resizer

Resize an image to an exact size in KB

Many online forms only accept photos under a size limit: 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB for a signature or photo on an application form, 1 MB or 2 MB on job portals. Type the limit in KB and the resizer finds the best quality that fits: it lowers the JPG quality step by step and, only if that is not enough, makes the picture smaller. Photos usually stay sharp down to about 50 KB.

Common sizes in pixels

UseSize
Instagram square post1080 x 1080
Instagram and TikTok story or Reel1080 x 1920
Facebook and LinkedIn link image1200 x 630
YouTube thumbnail1280 x 720
Full HD wallpaper1920 x 1080
US passport and visa photo (digital)600 x 600

Click a preset to fill in the size. Untick Keep proportions to set both numbers; the picture is then stretched to fit, so crop it first with Crop Image if the shape is different.

JPG, PNG or WEBP?

JPG gives the smallest files for photos and is accepted everywhere. PNG keeps transparency and sharp edges in screenshots and logos but makes bigger files, so for a size in KB choose JPG. WEBP is smaller than JPG at the same quality and works on websites and in modern apps. To shrink many photos at once without changing their size in pixels, use Compress JPG.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image to 50 KB?

Select the image, choose File size (KB), type 50 and click Resize image. The result is the best-quality JPG under 50 KB; download it and upload it to your form.

Will resizing reduce the quality?

Making a picture smaller in pixels or in KB always removes some detail, but the resizer keeps as much quality as the target allows. Photos usually look the same down to about 100 KB.

Can I make an image bigger?

Yes, type a larger width and height. The picture gets more pixels but no new detail, so a big enlargement can look soft.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone and select a photo from your gallery. iPhone HEIC photos open in Safari; in other browsers convert them first with HEIC to JPG.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The image is resized in your browser and never sent to our server.

Is there a watermark or a limit?

No watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many images you resize.

How this works: everything happens in your browser with open-source code. Nothing is uploaded to our server and nothing is stored.
