How to white out a PDF
- Open your PDF.
- Choose Whiteout and drag a box over the text or picture to cover.
- Choose Text and type the correct details on the white area.
- Download the PDF.
The box is white by default; pick another colour if your page has a coloured background.
Whiteout is not redaction
Whiteout hides content visually, like correction tape on paper. The original text underneath can still be found by someone who copies text out of the PDF or opens it in a technical tool. Do not use it to remove passwords, ID numbers, bank details or other private data before sharing. For that, print the page and scan it again, or use a dedicated redaction tool.

Is the covered text really deleted?
