How to crop a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF. Select it or drop it into the box; the first page opens large.
  2. Drag the crop box. Move the corners and edges until only the part you want is inside. Choose whether to crop all pages or only this one.
  3. Save. Click Crop PDF to download the cropped file.

Why crop a PDF

Big white margins make PDFs hard to read on a phone or e-reader. Cropping them makes the text larger on screen. You can also cut a scanned receipt, a chart or a single figure out of a page before sharing it.

How the crop works

The visible area of each page is set to your box, which is how PDF viewers and printers show it. Text stays text and stays sharp. The parts outside the box are hidden, not erased, so to remove private information for good use Whiteout PDF instead.

Private and quick

Cropping runs in your browser; the PDF is never uploaded. To turn pages, use Rotate PDF; to change their order, use Organize PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop a PDF?

Open the PDF here, drag the crop box on the preview to the area you want, choose all pages or this page, and click Crop PDF.

Can I crop only one page?

Yes. Choose "This page only" before saving; other pages stay as they are.

Is cropping free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Is the cropped part deleted?

It is hidden in every viewer and when printing, but it is still inside the file. To remove sensitive content for good, cover it with Whiteout PDF.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Cropping happens in your browser.

How this works: this tool runs in your browser with open-source code (pdf.js to show the pages, pdf-lib to save the PDF). Your file is read on your own device and is never uploaded to our server.
