Your PDF never leaves your device

How to split a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF. Click Select PDF file or drop the PDF into the box. The pages appear as small previews.
  2. Pick how to split it. Every page as its own PDF, your own page ranges (for example 1-3, 4-8, 9), or a fixed number of pages per file.
  3. Download. One part downloads as a PDF; several parts download together in a ZIP file.

Three ways to split a PDF

Your PDF stays on your device

Splitting happens in your browser with open-source code (pdf-lib), so the file is never uploaded to a server. That makes it fast, even for big PDFs, and private: nobody else sees your bank statement, contract or exam paper.

Need just a few pages?

To save only some pages into one new PDF, use Extract PDF pages. To remove pages, use Delete PDF pages, and to put several PDFs together again, use Merge PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to split a PDF?

Yes. Splitting is free, without sign-up, email, watermark or a daily limit.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is split in your browser and never leaves your device.

Can I split a PDF into single pages?

Yes. Choose "Every page" and each page is saved as its own PDF, all together in one ZIP file.

How do I split a PDF by page ranges?

Choose "Custom ranges" and type the ranges separated by commas, for example 1-3, 4-6, 7. Each range becomes one PDF.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. The pages are copied exactly as they are: text stays text and images keep their quality.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Unlock it first with Unlock PDF (you need the password), then split it.

How this works: this tool runs in your browser with open-source code (pdf.js to show the pages, pdf-lib to save the PDF). Your file is read on your own device and is never uploaded to our server.
