How to rotate an image
- Select an image. Click Select image or drop a photo.
- Rotate it. Click Left or Right to turn it 90 degrees, or move the angle slider to straighten it.
- Crop and download. Drag the crop box to cut off the corners if you like, then click Download image.
Why photos show up sideways
Phones save the picture as the sensor sees it and add a note saying which way to turn it. Some websites and programs ignore that note, so the photo appears sideways. Rotating it here saves the pixels the right way up, so it shows correctly everywhere.
Straighten a crooked photo
Use the angle slider to level a tilted horizon or a document photographed at an angle. Rotating by an angle leaves empty corners: crop them away with the box, or keep them transparent (PNG) or white. To scan documents straight, see JPG to PDF after rotating.
Frequently asked questions
How do I rotate a picture 90 degrees?
Select the image, click Right (clockwise) or Left (counterclockwise), then download it.
Can I rotate by a custom angle?
Yes. Move the angle slider anywhere from -180 to 180 degrees.
Does rotating lose quality?
Turning by 90 or 180 degrees keeps every pixel. Other angles need a small amount of smoothing.
