How to make a receipt
Open the Payment receipt template and fill in your business name, the receipt number and date, who paid, what they paid for and the amount. Add how they paid (cash, card, bank transfer) and download the PDF. It is A5 sized, so two fit on one A4 sheet when printed.
Types of receipts you can make
Cash receipt: proof that money was received in cash. Rent receipt: add the property address and the month the rent covers; tenants often need it for tax or allowance claims. Sales receipt: list the items sold with prices. Donation receipt: show the donor, the amount and your organisation's details.
Receipt or invoice?
An invoice asks for payment; a receipt confirms that payment has been made. Send an invoice first, then a receipt when the money arrives.
