How to resize an image to 20 KB
- Select the photo. Click Select image or drop a JPG, PNG, WEBP or other image.
- Keep 20 KB as the target. The size is already set to 20 KB. Change it if your form asks for something else, for example 10 or 30 KB.
- Resize and download. Click Resize image, check that the new size is under the limit, then download the JPG and upload it to your form.
How the photo is brought under 20 KB
The tool first lowers the JPG quality step by step and keeps the highest quality that fits under 20 KB. Only if the lowest sensible quality is still too big does it make the picture smaller in pixels as well. That gives a sharper result than shrinking the picture straight away. If the form also asks for a size in pixels, switch to Width and height first, or use the image resizer.
Tips for photo and signature uploads
- Crop away empty space first with Crop Image: a smaller area needs fewer KB and stays sharper.
- For a signature, scan or photograph it on white paper; a plain background compresses very well.
- For a passport-style photo, make it with the passport photo maker, then resize it here.
- iPhone photos (HEIC) open in Safari; in other browsers convert them with HEIC to JPG first.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo to 20 KB?
Select the photo here and click Resize image. The target is already 20 KB, so the result is a JPG under 20 KB that you can download straight away.
Will the photo still look good?
The tool keeps the highest quality that fits. Ordinary photos look good at 20 KB when they are small in pixels, such as a signature or an ID photo.
Can I resize a PNG or a screenshot?
Yes. Choose JPG as the format for the smallest file; PNG cannot be compressed as much.
Is it free and private?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark, and the photo is resized in your browser without being uploaded.
